Governance and Management

EAST's manager reports to a Board of Trustees who meet six times a year to oversee all the charity's work.

Our Trustees include representatives of communities affected by HIV and AIDS as well as people with backgrounds in education, the voluntary sector and the media. EAST's policy is to ensure that two client representatives are always included among our Trustees.

The main responsibilities of the Trustees – to ensure proper management and governance – are met through participation at meetings but Trustees also take an active role in recruitment of staff and organising events.

At present, EAST has six trustees and an increase in number is planned. A strong commitment to the aims of the charity is needed among our trustees and a good understanding of one or more of the areas in which we operate.
